The Fairwood Trust bursary programme is designed to empower individuals who have experienced financial hardship coupled with personal and family challenges which may prevent them from achieving their future aspirations and goals.
Over the past four years, the Trust has provided financial support for 55 individuals as part of its bursary programme. The recipients have all gone on to attend university degree programmes both in Wales and across the UK.
This year, the Trust is expanding its bursary initiative with the addition of 36 new entrants to the programme. The students will be selected from schools across the Rhondda, Bridgend, Cardiff and Newport areas. Grant funding will support the students over the next three years of their degree programmes, until 2016.
Bursary grants mainly connected to higher education, (universities and colleges) supporting individuals over 2-3 years through to full qualification such as degrees and higher diploma levels. We are particularly keen to engage with those who are disadvantaged and thereby may be prevented from achieving their goals and ambitions.
